Lopi Leyden

General Review:

The Lopi Leyden is a well engineered stove made by Travis Industries.  It offers good burntimes and an easy to start ability.
Prices for these hover in the mid-$2000 area.  The enamel models are a little bit more than the plain cast iron.

Advantages:

Its solidly made, especially the cast iron version.  The fires are easy to start and you’ll get a good overnight burn easily.  The ash pan is well designed and easy to clean.  The afterburn unit is a well made ceramic which should last through many burn cycles.  The air intake is easy to manage.  The cast iron version in particular has a nice, classic look to it.  The top loader doesn’t get overly smoky or hot when doing a reload.

Disadvantages:

Double check the seal on the internal bypass gasket.  It has a tendency to get a little loose over time and may need some re-adhesion.  Some owners have said that the Lopi brand blower can get noisy.  Although it has a nice overnight burn, it might struggle heating areas much above 2000 sq. feet
