Bosca Stoves

Bosca stoves are one of the few major manufacturers of stoves in South America. They are by far the biggest maker of heaters in Chile, their home country. They were originally created as a partnership between a New Zealand and Chilean manufacturers but they are made in Chile. They are so popular that any wood stove there is often just called a Bosca, regardless of actual brand name.

They've only recently been EPA certified in the US, since 2005, so you probably haven't seen too many of their products. They have both log burning and pellet stove lines. However, a few parts of their newer pellet stove line are made in the US. They are all-steel designs with high quality ceramic glass.

Bosca Classic - This is their mainline log burning unit. Its rated up to 1800 Sq. ft and with 40000 btus. It is a little smaller in the loading area, and doesn't seem to fit logs bigger than fourteen inches. It also has a smaller ashpan, which seems to be common with most of the Boscas. In the reports I've heard it does perform reliably. One complaint is that the glass can get dirty and be tough to keep clear though.

Bosca Spirit - Based off of the Classic so it has similar heating specs. For a pellet burner, its very reasonably priced. I've heard of people getting them for under $900. They also offer a 2 year warranty on the electronics and 7 years on the stove body. They have a nice contemporary design. One note, the ashpan tends to be a little small, as it the hopper as its only rated up to 40 lbs. Several sellers have mentioned that is a very solid performer with few mechanical issues, and it isn't too picky about the brand and quality of pellet burned.. Definitely worth a look.. Its rated up to 1800 Sq. feet and kicks out 40000 btus.
